Combining survey data from 208 companies with qualitative insights from 45 interviews across nine countries, the research examines organisational awareness, usage, and the enablers and barriers to XR adoption. Using the Technology–Organisation–Environment (TOE) framework, the study identifies critical factors, such as technological readiness, stakeholder capabilities, and managerial support, that shape XR diffusion in industrial contexts. It highlights the unique challenges faced by SMEs, including resource limitations and workforce training needs, while offering practical recommendations for fostering XR adoption to drive digital transformation in industry.
